A Family Affair
2 Timothy 1:7
Overcoming fear feels like a full time job. It’s the most prevalent negative emotion that exists. In order to have happiness, health and wealth, we have to conquer this emotion. However, what we often overlook is one of it’s closest cousins in the family of negative emotions…doubt. Doubt is when you second guess yourself. It’s not so much that you don’t believe God’s promise, it’s that you don’t believe in yourself. This “doubt” creeps up on you in the worst way.
Most of the time, we invite it in without even knowing. When we watch the local news, crime television, murder mysteries, or anything with a dark tone, we invite doubt. When we let friends and family make passive aggressive comments around us/to us, we embrace doubt. The biggest trend of the last decade is the habit of self-deprecating. It’s disguised as humor and masked as being “down to earth”.
It’s interesting that one must overly criticize themselves and put themselves down in order to fit in. This, we must stop in order to rise above mediocrity and receive all the blessings God has. Trust and believe…never doubt. Stay blessed.
