Have you ever found yourself in a bad situation and wasn’t quite sure how you got there? Perhaps…you have more debt than you expected…gained more weight than you wanted…found yourself in trouble with the law…your relationship isn’t as blissful as you would have hoped?

One simple word…influence. Someone once wrote, “You are the average sum of the five people you spend the most time with. You will go no higher than the best, and no lower than the worst.” We allow wayyyy too many people to park themselves in our lives without knowing how they are affecting us. No matter how strong or strong willed you are, each person has a percentage vote of influence in your life.
Influence is subtle, but powerful.

You don’t know that you are drifting in the wrong direction until it is too late. Someone once illustrated the magnitude of influence in this way: If an enemy put poison in your coffee and you drank it, what would happen? If a friend put poison in your coffee…and you drank it…what would happen then?

Limit your negative associations and increase your positive ones. It’s a small change that will greatly impact your life to the positive.
So, Take a few minutes this week and make a list of the top five people you spend the most time with. The ones that cause you to be better, increase the amount of time that you spend with them and tag them with this post. The ones that cause you to be worse, limit your time with them.
